The oat flour is obtained from the cereal Avena sativa, from the Graminaceae family, by milling the seeds. The high carbohydrate content is particularly useful for athletes who are engaged in expensive and long-lasting activities, to meet the body's energy needs and to avoid muscle catabolism. In addition, carbohydrates are slow digestion and therefore, thanks to the further contribution of the fibers present, they are able to provide energy in the long term without causing insulin peaks. Element of particular importance for sportsmen.
Oats are the cereal with the highest protein profile (50% more protein than wheat proteins) and its biological value is considered very interesting. In fact, oats have a more complete amino acid framework rich in essential amino acids. Among the amino acids of the oats we find 5 of the 8 essential amino acids (Isoleucine, Leucine, Lysine, Methionine and Phenylalanine) essential for the organism, which is not able to produce by itself but must be introduced through feeding. These are essential for protein synthesis and increase in muscle mass in athletes. Of particular importance is the content of Lysine, which is decidedly higher than the other cereals, in which it represents the limiting amino acid.
CHOCO PROAT + maximizes the protein characteristics of oats by adding proteins extracted from oats (PrOATein) to those already present in the flour, thus achieving a high protein content, and making this product particularly suitable for those who follow a vegetarian diet or vegan.
In addition, oatmeal, is rich in fiber that helps a proper functioning of the intestine and digestion. The fibrous portion contains high percentages of beta glucans, molecules beneficial for the treatment of certain metabolic therapies. Beta glucans, when deposited in the intestine, trap cholesterol from food sources in a non-absorbable gel that passes through the intestine, taking away cholesterol. Hence their hypocholesterolemic properties, useful in the prevention of heart disease and stroke. Among the components of oats are the phenolic nitrogen compounds, the avenantramides, which are powerful anti-inflammatories able to protect against tumors and to inhibit cell proliferation.
Additional benefits are drawn from the presence of vitamins (B vitamins, Vitamin A and vitamin E) and minerals (Selenium, Phosphorus, Calcium, Molybdenum, Silicon, Sodium, Iron, Zinc and Copper) in the oats. In particular Silicon increases the production of urine and allows to eliminate uric acid also responsible for disorders such as gout, calcium prevents osteoporosis and is imported for athletes, Zinc plays a fundamental role in the intake of insulin and Iron promotes the transport of oxygen into the tissues. Actions that are essential for the maintenance, growth and protection of muscle mass.
